Front Door Replacement Kansas City & Overland Park
Certified Door Installers Serving the Kansas City Area
Windura replaces front doors throughout Kansas City and Overland Park with steel, fiberglass, and wood entry systems built to look great and seal tight for years.
Front Entry Door Replacement for Kansas City and Overland Park Homes
Your front door is the first thing guests see and the one you use every day, so you notice right away when it stops working the way it should. Maybe it sticks in August, lets in a draft in January, or the finish has faded in the afternoon sun. Kansas City weather is hard on doors: about 20°F on winter nights and 89°F on summer afternoons, and every swing tests the seal, the finish, and the frame.
The good news is that the right door, installed the right way, fixes all of that. From our showroom in Overland Park, we serve homeowners across the metro, from Leawood and Prairie Village to Kansas City, MO. As an independent dealer, Windura installs four door brands, so we can match the construction to your opening, sun exposure, and budget.
Benefits of Exterior Door Replacement
A well-built door that is installed right keeps conditioned air in, weather out, and your entry looking sharp for years. Sun exposure plays a part, too, so it is worth reading how orientation and door color affect your energy bill.
Here’s what Kansas City homeowners gain with a new entry door from Windura:
- A tighter seal against drafts and rain, with the rough opening insulated before any trim goes on
- Polyurethane foam cores in steel and fiberglass doors, with most ProVia Legacy and Signet styles meeting ENERGY STAR criteria.
- A stronger entry, including ProVia Legacy steel with 49% more steel than a standard 24-gauge door
- Factory finishes backed by manufacturer warranties of up to 20 years, depending on the product
- Steel, fiberglass, or wood in standard or custom sizes, so the material you want fits the opening you have
Our Front Door Replacement & Installation Services
A new front door works best when the whole entry is planned around it. We look at the door, the frame, the glass, and the opening together, so every part fits and seals as one system.
Single and Double Entry Doors
A single door suits most openings. For a wide or grand entry, a pair usually has one active door for daily use and a fixed one that opens for full width. We match the swing, hardware, and finish to your household.
Sidelites and Transoms
Glass or panel units beside and above the door bring daylight into a dark entry hall and make a modest opening feel larger without widening the door itself. We check your wall framing first to confirm there's room for them.
Decorative and Privacy Glass
Choose clear, textured, decorative, or privacy glass to set the look of your entry and decide how much the street can see. ProVia doors also offer internal blinds sealed between the panes, so you can open or close the view anytime.
Custom Sizes and Opening Changes
All four brands we install build custom sizes, so you don't have to change materials to fit an unusual opening. If you'd like a larger opening, we check the wall first and tell you honestly whether it's practical.
Entry Doors We Install
We install entry doors from four manufacturers. Here’s how they line up, starting with the brand we recommend most often.
ProVia Entry Doors
Choose from dozens of panel and glass styles, from Craftsman to modern, including 8-foot and inscribed doors with matching sidelites and transoms. Every ProVia door comes in 33 paint colors, with 20 stains and 7 glazes on Signet and 7 stains on Ascent and Legacy. Glass options include decorative, art, privacy, and internal blinds, all part of ProVia’s entry door options.
ProVia Legacy® Steel Doors
20-gauge galvanized steel over a bonded polyurethane foam core, in woodgrain or smooth skins. 10-year factory finish warranty.
ProVia Signet® Fiberglass Doors
Embossed woodgrain that accurately represents real wood species, from Cherry and Mahogany to Oak, Knotty Alder and Fir, plus a smooth option. 15-year factory finish warranty.
ProVia Ascent™ Fiberglass Doors
White Oak woodgrain or smooth fiberglass, built in custom widths and heights in 1/8-inch steps. 10-year factory finish warranty.
Marvin Swinging Doors
The right choice when you’re installing Marvin windows and want a matching entry. Marvin’s swinging doors are glass-panel doors in French and narrow-profile styles, so ask about privacy glass for a street-facing entry. For a solid-panel wood door, see Marvin TruStile® entry doors below. Compare the Marvin collections we install.
Marvin Elevate® Swinging French Door
Ultrex fiberglass outside and pine inside, up to 9 by 8 feet, with standard ratings up to PG50 depending on configuration and a 10-year exterior finish warranty.
Marvin Ultimate Swinging Door

TruStile Entry Systems
A Marvin company that builds every entry door to order from more than 500 standard styles, in two constructions. See the TruStile entry systems Windura installs.
TruStile Resilient™

TruStile Reserve™

Good's Millwork Custom Hardwood Doors
Built to order from American hardwood, with real wood in every part and panel. Engineered stiles and rails resist warping, dowel joints add strength, and exterior doors are sealed along the bottom edge against moisture. Choose from arch-top, Dutch, plank, glass, and panel styles, with matching sidelites and transoms. Best suited to covered entries.
Front Door Construction Comparison
The finish is the last layer. What lies beneath determines how a door handles weight, weather, and years of use.

Steel and fiberglass doors get their insulating value from a foam core sealed between two skins. TruStile and Good’s Millwork doors are wood all the way through, built on an Accoya, LVL, or hardwood core, so their comfort and stability come from the engineered wood itself and a tight weather seal.
Want the everyday view? Here’s how fiberglass, steel, and wood doors differ in everyday ownership.
What's Inside a Quality Entry Door
Lower steel gauge means thicker steel: Lower steel gauge means thicker steel: Legacy’s 20-gauge faces carry 49% more steel than a standard 24-gauge door, with tab-and-slot interlocks and a composite lock block. Signet uses a 2⅝-inch hardwood hinge stile and 4¼-inch strike stile. TruStile offers a multipoint lock, required on no-overhang Resilient pairs.
Performance Grade (PG) ratings combine air, water, and structural testing for one size and configuration; Marvin lists both swinging doors at up to PG50. ProVia uses a Z-AC threshold with an auto-adjusting riser. The rest of the seal comes from installation.
U-factor measures how much heat passes through the whole door, frame, and glass included; the lower the number, the better the door insulates. For example, a ProVia Signet fiberglass door (style 008P, no glass) in a wood frame is rated at a U-factor of 0.15 with air leakage of 0.05 cfm/ft², and it’s ENERGY STAR certified in all regions (NFRC record PRD-N-87-21569-00001). Glass, size, and frame all change the number, so ask us for the rating of your exact door. ProVia’s steel and fiberglass doors are a standard 1¾ inches thick, with the polyurethane foam filling the entire slab.
STC rates how well a door blocks higher-pitched sounds like voices; OITC gives more weight to low-frequency noise like traffic. Higher is better for both. Glass makes the biggest difference: on the Marvin Elevate Swinging French Door, Marvin rates standard insulated glass at STC 28 to 29 and OITC 24 to 25, and a thicker inner pane raises that to STC 32 to 33 and OITC 27 to 28.
ProVia doesn’t publish sound ratings for its residential entry doors, so with a ProVia door, the practical levers are less glass and a tight seal; Signet and Legacy come standard with the Z-AC auto-adjusting threshold. On a busy street, ask us about upgraded sound glass and compare OITC first.
AAMA 2605 is the top AAMA specification for coatings on aluminum and is standard on Marvin Ultimate. AAMA 624 covers coatings on fiberglass; Marvin’s Elevate finish is verified to it. ProVia’s finish warranties cover flaking, checking, blistering, and peeling.
Performance ratings vary by door size, glass package, configuration, and frame. Values shown represent specific manufacturer-tested configurations.

Door Replacement FAQs
Single entry doors on our price guide run $4,150 to $8,400 installed, and doubles run $10,450 to $18,800, both with moderate installation complexity. Sidelites, transoms, premium finishes, and custom sizes add to that.
ProVia. Its steel and fiberglass doors cover standard and custom sizes, many design packages, and the widest price range we offer. We suggest Marvin, TruStile, or Good’s Millwork when a specific goal points there.
Sometimes. It means reframing the wall and installing a larger header, and what’s in that wall decides whether it’s practical. We assess it in person before recommending it.
Neither wins outright. ProVia Signet fiberglass takes stain and carries embossed woodgrain that accurately represents real wood species, while 20-gauge Legacy steel suits painted looks and buyers focused on strength. Both serve standard and custom-size openings.
It can, with the right construction. TruStile Resilient offers reduced-overhang and, in specific system designs, no-overhang configurations under its 10-year residential limited warranty; Reserve follows standard overhang requirements.
Two apply: the manufacturer’s coverage on the door and finish, which varies by product, and Windura’s lifetime limited installation warranty on our workmanship.
