Marvin Windows and Doors in Kansas City

Windura partners with Marvin because their windows and doors are built with craftsmanship, innovation, and long-term reliability in mind. Marvin is a fifth-generation, family-owned company headquartered in Minnesota, and in 2025 it opened a 400,000-square-foot fiberglass window and door plant in Kansas City, Kansas. That combination of family ownership, local manufacturing, and five distinct collections gives homeowners room to tailor every detail of their windows.

Marvin Essentials

Marvin Essential® Collection

Ultrex® Fiberglass Inside and Out
Essential uses Marvin’s pultruded Ultrex fiberglass for both the interior and exterior. Marvin rates it to resist distortion up to 285°F and to move less than 1/32 inch along a 6-foot frame member between -30°F and 70°F. It comes in six exterior colors and in casement, awning, single-hung, double-hung, glider, and specialty shape windows.

Marvin Elevate® Collection

Ultrex Fiberglass Exterior with Pine Interior
Elevate pairs an Ultrex fiberglass exterior in six colors with a real pine interior that can arrive bare, stained, clear-coated, or factory painted white or black. Casement and awning units are rated PG50, and impact-rated (IZ3) versions are available for select window types.

Marvin Vivid Windows

Marvin Vivid™ Collection

Ultrex Fiberglass Exterior with Fiberglass-Reinforced Composite Interior
Vivid is built for large, contemporary glass without a wood interior. Direct glaze windows reach up to 10 feet in width or height, casements reach 3’6” by 8’, and specialty shapes go up to 60 square feet. It offers four exterior colors and two interior colors.

Marvin Ultimate Collection

Wood Interior with Extruded Aluminum Exterior
Ultimate is Marvin’s most customizable collection: real wood inside, with extruded aluminum cladding outside that’s formed first and painted after. Most extruded-clad Ultimate products are rated PG50, and the collection includes hundreds of round top and geometric specialty shapes for arched and custom-shape Marvin windows.

Marvin Modern Collection

High-Density Fiberglass Exterior with Extruded Aluminum Interior
Modern uses Marvin’s high-density fiberglass outside and a low-gloss extruded aluminum interior, with dual- or triple-pane glass. Direct glaze windows reach 12’ by 8’, and casements reach 2’8” by 9’. It’s built for ultra-contemporary homes where slim frames and large views come first.

How the Marvin Collections Compare

Each Marvin collection pairs a different exterior and interior material, which is what drives its look, its maintenance, and its price. Here’s how the five collections we install line up side by side.

Collection Exterior Interior Best for
Essential Ultrex fiberglass Ultrex fiberglass Low-maintenance fiberglass, inside and out
Elevate Ultrex fiberglass Pine wood Traditional styles with a real wood interior
Vivid Ultrex fiberglass Fiberglass-reinforced composite Large, contemporary glass without wood
Ultimate Extruded aluminum Wood Full customization, historic homes, specialty shapes
Modern High-density fiberglass Extruded aluminum Ultra-contemporary architecture with slim frames

Extruded vs. Roll-Formed Aluminum Cladding

Aluminum-clad windows aren’t all built the same way, and the difference is in how the aluminum is made. Marvin Ultimate uses extruded aluminum, which changes how the exterior holds up over decades.

How Each Is Made

Extruded aluminum is heated and pushed through a die, producing thicker, rigid profiles. Roll-formed aluminum comes off a large coil and is pressed over a form, which yields a thinner part. Marvin describes extruded aluminum as thicker and more durable, and notes that thinner roll-formed cladding dents more easily, especially along edges and corners that take bumps from ladders, hail, and yard work.

Finished After Forming

Marvin forms its extruded parts first and paints them afterward, so no bend or crease ever stresses the finish. The paint is a 70% PVDF fluoropolymer coating that meets AAMA 2605, the highest architectural finish standard for aluminum. That’s also the standard behind Marvin’s 20-year warranty on aluminum cladding against chalking, fading, and peeling.

Ultrex, High-Density Fiberglass, and Wood: What Each Collection Is Made Of

The material on each side of the glass decides how a window handles Kansas City’s hot summers and cold winters, and how much upkeep it asks of you. Marvin builds its collections from three main materials.

Ultrex Fiberglass

Ultrex is Marvin’s proprietary pultruded fiberglass, used on Essential (inside and out) and on Elevate and Vivid exteriors. Marvin rates Ultrex 8 times stronger than vinyl and says it expands at nearly the same rate as glass, which helps seals stay tight through seasonal swings. Its acrylic finish was the first fiberglass finish verified to AAMA 624, and Marvin says it’s up to three times thicker than competing painted finishes.

High-Density Fiberglass

The Modern collection uses a separate high-density fiberglass exterior, paired with an extruded aluminum interior. The fiberglass’s low thermal conductivity helps limit heat loss through the frame, while the aluminum interior gives Modern its thin, minimal sightlines. It comes in dual- or triple-pane glass, and it’s built for the oversized openings contemporary homes call for.

Wood Interiors

Ultimate and Elevate are Marvin’s wood-interior collections. Elevate uses pine, while Marvin’s wider wood range includes cherry, Douglas fir, vertical-grain Douglas fir, mahogany, and white oak. Marvin sands, conditions, stains, and oven-cures each piece before the window ships, and interiors can be ordered prefinished, so they don’t need staining or painting on site.

Glass and Energy Options for Marvin Windows

Glass makes up most of a window’s surface, so it does most of the work on comfort and energy use. Every Marvin window starts with dual-pane, argon-filled glass, and you choose the coating and upgrades from there.

We’ll help you match the glass to each room’s exposure, so a sunny west wall and a shaded north bedroom don’t have to get the same coating.

Marvin Windows FAQs

What’s the difference between Marvin Ultimate and Marvin Elevate?

Both have real wood interiors, but Ultimate uses extruded aluminum on the exterior, while Elevate uses Ultrex fiberglass. Ultimate offers more customization, including hundreds of specialty shapes, while Elevate focuses on the most in-demand traditional window styles.

Is extruded aluminum cladding better than roll-formed?

Marvin describes extruded aluminum as thicker and more durable, while thinner roll-formed cladding dents more easily. Marvin’s extruded parts are also painted after forming, with a finish that meets the AAMA 2605 standard.

Which Marvin windows are all fiberglass?

The Essential collection uses Ultrex fiberglass on both the interior and exterior. Elevate and Vivid use Ultrex on the exterior only, paired with a wood or composite interior.

What warranty comes with Marvin windows?

Marvin’s transferable limited warranty covers insulating glass for 20 years (on units under 60 square feet), hardware and other components for 10 years, and aluminum cladding finishes for 20 years. Terms are the same across all five collections we install.

Can I get triple-pane glass in Marvin windows?

Yes, triple pane is available on select Marvin products, and the Modern collection offers it alongside dual pane. We’ll confirm availability for the specific windows and sizes in your project.

How much do Marvin windows cost in Kansas City?

For a typical 35” x 65” window with moderate installation complexity, Marvin fiberglass runs $2,200 to $2,800, and Marvin aluminum-clad wood runs $3,300 to $3,500, installed. Size, glass upgrades, and specialty shapes move the price, and you can compare every window brand and style we install.
